this track is a combination of four performances on each vertical gong of the gamelan gong kebyar. each take was done in isolation, having no input from previous takes.
the two largest gongs are known as gong wadon and gong lanang. gong lanang is the largest gong and the most sacred instrument of the ensemble. every piece played by the gamelan gong kebyar finishes with the gong lanang. gong lanang is considered female whilst gong wadon is male.
the other large gong is called kempur whilst the highest pitched gong is kemong.
